Sleepyhead has an established reputation for producing world-renowned brands across its extensive product range, distributed through a comprehensive network of wholesalers and licensed retailers.

Our company has been at the forefront of bed manufacturing and innovation since it was founded by the current owners' forbearers more than 70 years agoand is widely regarded as the world's most innovative bedding manufacturer. From our beginnings making kapok mattresses in a small factory shed in Auckland in 1935, the business has actively grown through organic growth and strategic acquisition.

Today Sleepyhead employs more than 1000 people at five manufacturing facilities across Australia and New Zealand, making a valuable contribution to the local economies of both countries.

At Sleepyhead we use only locally sourced components in the products we manufacture, which proudly carry the 100% New Zealand Made credential. Our bedding products are constructed using New Zealand made steel springs and are designed and built to the highest quality standards unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

In New Zealand, Sleepyhead has specialised factories in Auckland and Christchurch while in Australia, we have a specially designed and purpose-built 9,000 square metre factory complex in Brisbane and 4,500 square metre complexes in Melbourne and Perth. This enables our commitment to using the latest technology to continually improve manufacturing methods; which in turn provides customers with superior products.

All sites feature computerised automated production lines. The Sleepyhead Brisbane factory features a world-first fully computerised Eton automated fabric-handling system, exclusively developed for use in the mattress industry by our engineers. This machinery dramatically increases efficiencies throughout the factory and ensures we can better serve our customers.
